Boss 2 and Nabab get censor board nod amidst tensions

Update : 22 Jun 2017, 09:18 PM
The wrangle surrounding the much talked about joint venture films, Boss 2 and Nabab, has evidently divided the local film industry into two parts – one of which is in support of the release of the film, while the other group desperately wants to restrain the release. The former group, consisting of Jaaz Multimedia kingpin Abdul Aziz, cast and crews of the film along with some other prominent figures of the local industry including Shakib Khan, Arefin Shuvo, Amit Hasan, Kazi Hayat, Iftekhar Uddin Nowshad, denies the allegation of infringement of joint venture film regulations against the films.29309_3On the other hand, the collective banner of Cholochitro Paribar – a union of fourteen film organisations, has announced a strong resistance against the release of the film, referring to the loss of the local film industry caused by joint venture films. Multiple press briefings and demonstrations have been staged in this regard by both the parties. The feud took on a new dimension, when the censor board, which previously asserted that the allegation of artist disparity in Boss 2 has been proven true, permitted an uncut release of both the films on June 21. Cholcochitro Oikyajot, led by prominent actors and directors including, Badiul Alam Khokon, Misha Sowdagar, Riaz, Dipjol, Ali Raz and Khorshed Alam Khasru, talked about the irregularities regarding joint venture films in front of the censor board. “We are humbly requesting the censor board members not to grant the release of the films in question. If the films get released, halls showing either of the films will be set on fire and we won’t take the responsibility for that,” said director Khokon, while Misha Sowdagar promised to continue the movement against irregularities as such, till his last breath. “If Indian films get released in this country by the means of such deception, halls showing the films will be burnt down,” he added. Things took a nasty turn when Iftekhar Uddin Nowshad, member of the censor board and one of the owners of Madhumita Hall, tried to pass the procession and enter the building.46d6c3c5579599dd5fb9433d5b3a1860-594a931a9b8b0Hall Malik Samiti to sue the protestersNowshad has allegedly been physically harassed by the demonstrators. Nowshad claimed that the enraged protesters physically attacked him, and tore his clothes apart. Several photos of Nowshad being escorted by the police wearing his torn cloths, have gone viral on social media. Hall Malik Samiti, the union of the theatre owners around the country, has been demanding the release of the films from the very beginning and threatened to close the theatres otherwise. They are reportedly preparing to sue the protesters of Cholochitro Oikyajot. “Both the films were screened today in front of the censor board. As a member of the board, this is my official duty to join the shows. But when I went on to perform my duty, the protesters attacked me. Misha Sowdagar, Riaz, Khasru and Jayed Khan’s people have physically attacked me. I am going to take the matter to court,” said Nowshad. No statement or comment has been received from the Cholchitro Oikyajot leaders in this regard yet.
