Update : 17 Jun 2017, 09:47 PM
Indian playback singer Shalmali Kholgade, who predominantly sings for Hindi language films, is all set to cater to Bangla music enthusiasts. The song titled “Eka eka bohukal” will be Shalmali’s first ever venture in the Bangladeshi music scene. The song has been penned by Rakib Hasan Rahul and composed by Ahmed Humayun. The recording of the track was completed at studio in Mumbai on June 12. In a video message about the song, the sensational Bollywood singer said, “The song is exactly of the type I always want to sing and am comfortable with. Despite my poor understanding of the Bangla language, I find the lyrics astonishing. I hope my listeners in Bangladesh will love the song.” “The song is of a different flavour, which has been made keeping Eid in mind,” said the composer Ahmed, while lyricist Hasan marked the track as a big achievement in his career. Eagle Music, which is releasing the song under their banner this Eid, has previously collaborated with popular Indian singers including the likes of Papon and Shuvomita. The production company looks forward to continue their efforts. Starting her Bollywood playback singing career with the song “Pareshaan” for the film Ishaqzaade (2012), Kholgade earned widespread success and several awards and nominations for her singing talents, including the Filmfare Award for Best Female Playback Singer. The following year, she garnered a second nomination in the Best Female Playback Singer category at Filmfare for singing the song “Balam Pichkari” from the coming-of-age romance Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani (2013), and was applauded for the song “Baby Ko Bass Pasand Hai” from the sports drama Sultan (2016), both of which rank among some of the highest-grossing Bollywood films. Apart from singing in Hindi language films, she also sings for south Indian films, most notably in the Marathi and Telugu languages.
