Update : 10 May 2017, 11:11 PM
The trance music producer and DJ Robert Miles, who created one of the most recognisable songs in the 90s in club classic “Children,” has died at age 47. The Swiss-born Italian music producer, who was born as Robert Concina, was reported dead by DJ Mag Italia, who said that he had died from an unspecified illness in the early hours of Wednesday. Miles’ friend, Joe T Vannelli, said in a statement: “The tragic news of the death of a very talented artist of our time, makes me incredulous and upset. I will miss the fights, brawls, criticism, judgements but especially your talent in finding sounds and melodies unparalleled.” A significant name in the electronic music scene, Miles released his debut album Dreamland in 1996, which was certified platinum in Europe and his greatest commercial success till date. Except a handful of low-key albums such as 23am in 1997, Organik in 2001 and Miles_Gurtu in 2004, he has been mostly out of limelight in recent years. His last studio album was Th1rt3en, released in 2011 on Salt Records. Miles was also famous for launching the radio station Open Lab, a regularly broadcast station from Ibiza which covered arts, media and technology.
