Update : 12 Apr 2017, 10:26 PM
Theatre, one of the leading theatre troupes of the country, is all set to celebrate Pohela Boishakh 1424 by staging three of their most popular plays. In order to share the details of the event, Theatre arranged a press conference at the VIP Lounge of Dhaka Press Club on Wednesday. Ramendu Majumdar, the director of Theatre, Eng Abu Noman Hawlader, the managing director of BBS Cables Ltd and the sponsor of the event, and Syed Apon Ahsan, the director of Expressions Ltd, were present at the press conference. The plays will be staged at the Mahila Samiti Auditorium, Natak Sarani in Baily Road. The first play of the day Payer Awaj Pawa Jay, written by Syed Shamsul Haque and directed by Abdullah Al-Mamun, will be staged at 11am. This play has been re-designed by Sudip Chakroborty. After that, Theatre’s latest production Maya Nodi, written and directed by Maruf Kabir, will be staged at 5:30pm. Finally, Meraj Fakir-er Maa which is one of the most popular plays of the troupe, written and directed by Abdullah Al-Mamun, will be staged at 7:30pm. “This is not the first time Theatre is arranging such day long performances. Many people are trying to shake the nation’s roots these days, by distracting the country’s next generation, deforming its history and culture in many ways. In order to tackle the situation, we need to encourage people so that they take part in cultural activities,” said the speakers. Theatre has chosen three of their most popular plays that reflect our country’s history and culture, depicting the Liberation War, non-communal spirit, and call for protecting nature.
