Goethe-Institut Bangladesh, and Berlinale Talents, Germany, will host the Berlinale Talents: Application Panel Bangladesh on Thursday at 5:30pm. The Berlin International Film Festival talent development programme invites 250 emerging filmmakers and drama series creators from all over the world.
The event will help aspiring Bangladeshi filmmakers prepare their applications for the Berlinale Talents 2020.The global Berlinale Talents 2020 is now accepting applications.
Participants of the event will get an in-depth insight into the application process and selection criteria from two Bangladeshi alumni filmmakers Humaira Bilkis of Berlinale Talents Doc Station 2019, and cinematographer Barkat Hossain Polash of Berlinale Talents 2019.
They will share their experiences at the Berlinale Talents with brief presentations in their respective fields of expertise and answer queries in the Q&A discussion session.
Filmmaker Abu Shahed Emon will moderate the session and Berlinale Talents Programme Manager, Florian Weghorn, will join via Skype.
Bangladeshi producer Arifur Rahman, whose upcoming feature film Paradise was selected for the 16th Berlinale Co-Production Market, told the Dhaka Tribune’s Showtime: “As a filmmaker I urge every aspiring Bangladeshi filmmaker to attend this event and apply to the upcoming and future Berlinale Talents programmes. This is one of the best global platforms for filmmakers to take Bangladeshi films to the world stage as we need that now more than ever before.”
Berlinale Talents is an initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival. It is a business division of the Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH, funded by the Federal Government Commissioner for Culture and the Media. This venture is in cooperation with Creative Europe MEDIA. a programme of the European Union, the Robert Bosch Stiftung, and Medienboard Berlin-Brandenburg. It was initiated in 2003.
Berlinale Talents 2019 took place from 9 to 14 February 2019 at HAU Hebbel am Ufer in Germany.
