One of the things about Netflix’s popular show Stranger Things that many of its fans find appealing is how it makes them feel nostalgic for the 80s.
The third season of the supernatural sci-fi thriller was released on the online streaming platform on July 4, and has been viewed a record number of times since, Netflix said.
The eight episodes of the latest season feature a number of classic tracks that will take you straight back to the 80s. Songs by legendary performers such as The Who, Howard Jones, The Pointer Sisters, Madonna, Foreigner, The Cars, Wham!, and many more ensure that the 80s inspired playlist is perfect for a summer throwback party.
Let’s have a look at some of these classic numbers:
Hot Blooded by Foreigner
Foreigner's 1978 platinum hit Hot Blooded, plays in the show as the score for Karen Wheeler's (Cara Buono’s) escalating passion for Billy.
Neutron Dance by Pointer Sisters
Some of the songs in the show serve as reminders of beloved films from the era, such as Neutron Dance by Pointer Sisters, which was used in the Beverly Hills Cop series.
Never Surrender by Corey Hart
This song is featured during the intimate moments between Mike (Finn Wolfhard) and Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). Canadian singer Corey Hart dominated the chart in the ‘80s.
Can't Fight This Feeling by REO Speedwagon
The group's music also appeared in films such as The Goonies - a major influence for Stranger Things.
Material Girl by Madonna
Material Girl is one of the many culture-defining hits by Madonna, and the song is used as the spot-on backdrop for Eleven and Max's (Sadie Sink’s) very 80s shopping sequence at The Gap. another hit number by Madonna, Angel, has also been used on the soundtrack.
