The Matrix getting reloaded without the Wachowskis?

Update : 15 Mar 2017, 02:51 PM
Warner Bros Studios is planning a reboot of the 1999 science fiction film The Matrix, but this time, the Wachowski siblings are not going to be writing or directing the movie, according to the UK’s Telegraph. The Wachowskis had written and directed the original blockbuster film, which went on to become a cult classic, and two of its sequels, which enjoyed continued success. Actor Keanu Reaves who starred in the Matrix trilogy has said that he would only be a part of the reboot if the Wachowskis were involved in it. Although he enjoyed significant fame prior to the Matrix, the trilogy helped to not only make him an international sensation but made him one of the richest actors in Hollywood. Sources told the Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros is interested in casting Michael B Jordan, star of Creed, as the lead. However, fans of the cult classic are divided on their reception of the news. Some argue that the Matrix is such an iconic blockbuster, that “you don’t remake that”. Others look forward to the reboot. The Telegraph reports that Warner Bros might be trying to emulate its competitor Disney after Disney made a successful reboot of the Star Wars movies.Twitter users were also quick to point out the news coincided with a partial release of Donald Trump's tax returns.
