Ganasangeet festival held at Dhaka

8th Satyan Sen Ganasangeet Utsab o Jatiyo Ganasangeet Protijogita, organised by Bangladesh Udichi Shilpigosthi was held on Saturday, at the capital’s Sufia Kamal Central Public Library, as part of the Dhaka district and city level competition. A total of 29 competitors participated individually in the ‘Ka, Kha and Ga’ sections, while a total of 7 teams participated in the ‘Gha’ section. Noor Zakia, Sheher Mahmud, and Arindam Khan were awarded the first, second, and third places respectively in the ‘Ka’ section (below 12 years), while in the ‘Kha’ section (below 18 years) Kajol Rekha, Dulary Bhattacharjee, and Mayesha Sultana won the first, second, and third places respectively. unnamed-(1)In the ‘Ga’ section (18 years and above) Anan Baul, Tofajjal Hossain, and Antu Sarkar won the first three positions respectively. In the group section, ‘Gha,’ Udichi Dhaka Mohanagar Sangsad and Bhinnodhara Samajik o Sangskritik Sangstha jointly won the first position, while Udichi Mirpur, and Tejgaon branch were jointly awarded the second position. Renowned Ganasangeet lyricist and composer Professor Matlub Ali, Shahin Sardar and Sohana Ahmed were the judges in the competition. The inaugural ceremony of the competition and a three-day Ganasangeet festival are scheduled to start at Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy from March 28. A large number of national and international cultural personalities are expected to attend the festival.
