The Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) and the National Film Day Observance Committee observed National Film Day on Tuesday. They organised an elaborate set of programmes for the day.
Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu inaugurated the programme near the mural of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at the BFDC entrance in the morning.
State Minister for Information Tarana Halim, member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Information Ministry AKM Rahmat Ullah, committee member Sukumar Ranjon Ghosh, Information Secretary Abdul Malek, and Dhallywood film star Nusraat Faria were also present at the occasion.
A seminar was held on the BFDC premises following a cultural function in the afternoon. Film stars including Rozina, Saif Khan, Nipun, Popy, Zayed Khan, Saimon Sadik, Mahia Mahi, Joy Chowdhury, Romana Nir, Sanju John, Bipasha Kabir, Asif Noor, Mishti Jannat, Shipon Mitra, Shirin Shila, and many more, performed at the cultural function.
The main attraction of the event was the photo exhibition, which included hundreds of behind the scenes shots of classic and modern films of the country, jointly organised by Film Still Photographers’ Association and Bangladesh Film Archive.
The Film Development Corporation (FDC) was established on April 3, 1957 after Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman tabled a bill in the provincial assembly of East Pakistan.
