Finance Ministry donates Tk6 crore to BFDC

A total number of 261 workers have not been paid their salaries for March and April

Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the workers and officers of Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC) have not been paid for the last two months. The Ministry of Finance has set aside Tk6 crore to pay for the workers’ salaries. 

The official order was received by BFDC authorities on May 3.

Each year, the Finance Ministry allots a certain number of donations to the corporation. This year, the corporation asked for a donation of Tk21 crore to pay for workers’ salaries, bills and other expenses. 

BFDC’s Managing Director (Additional Charge) Nuzhat Yasmin confirmed the news, saying: “We have been given a donation of Tk6 crore, which we will use to distribute the salaries of our workers within three or four days.”

A total number of 261 BFDC workers have not been paid their salaries for March and April. The donation will be used to pay for their Eid bonuses and the upcoming months’ salaries as well.
