"Aynabaji," directed by Amitabh Reza Choudhury, is going to be released once again on January 26 at Star Cineplex and Shyamoli theatres. The director himself confirmed Showtime about the rerelease.
After its release in September 2016, "Aynabaji" received huge response from its viewers. Along with the commercial success, the film’s protagonist Chanchal Chowdhury won hearts with his acting. Although the actor made his mark on silver screen with “Monpura,” he had to prove himself capable to play the role of Ayna. Director Amitabh Reza Chowdhury said: “When the whole team was in the field to find the best for Ayna, they kept Shatabdi Wadud, Manoj Kumar, Chanchal Chowdhury and Mosharraf Karim in mind.”
Though the conversation with Mosharraf Karim didn’t proceed, the rest of the three actors gave screen tests to get the role of Ayna. Among them, Chanchal was finally chosen. And once again, viewers will see this Ayna on the big screen– the director shared the news happily. He further said the audience still wanted to watch the movie even after so many days. This time, not at home, but on the silver screen. Hence, based on popular decision, the movie will be re-released.
Director Amitabh further said that the work of his new film is progressing parallel to his new web series. Ayna’s magic can be found in the new story and new screenplay again.
“Aynabaji” was shown under Marche du Film at Cannes film festival on May 17, 2016. It was later released in Bangladesh on December 30. The film had 91 shows within ten days of release, the highest for any Bangladeshi movie. On average, halls had 98.89% seats taken by viewers, and in eight weeks the film earned Tk2.3 crore, according to the concerned authorities.
There were four exhibitions of the film in the Mannheim-Heidelberg International Film Festival held from 12th to 15th November. "Aynabaji" won the Best Film award at the Seattle South Asian Film Festival and won the Best Film award at 16th Tele Cine Award.
