Superstar Shakib Khan has reassured that he wishes to take full custody of his son, Abraham Khan Joy.
Shakib contacted his lawyer, Shirajul Islam, on November 22 to initiate the process of divorce from his wife of nine years, Apu Biswas.
In a recent interview with a press, Shirajul said that although the legal custody of the child will be decided later, Shakib has expressed his earnest desire to take full responsibility. This, however, is not the first time the actor has expressed this desire.
He also said that Shakib accused Biswas of locking their son in the house before going abroad with a friend. Shirajul hinted that this incident finally tipped Shakib’s marriage over the edge.
Shakib, who is currently busy shooting the Rashed Raha directed film “Nolok” in India's Ramuji Film City, signed the notice of divorce on November 22. The actor said that he is done with the marriage and any further comment on the issue will be delivered by his lawyer.
The notice came as a surprise to Apu, as she expressed her belief that they had already resolved all of their marital issues.
“I can't believe it,” said Apu when speaking to reporters. “My last trip to India for treatment leaving our son in Bangladesh created a little misunderstanding between us. He may have done something in the heat of the moment. But we settled the dispute within a few days of the incident and it has been alright between us till now.”
The celebrity couple tied the knot in secret on April 18, 2008.
The couple’s relationship began declining at the beginning of this year, when Apu brought their six month old son to talk show and made their marriage public on April 10, 2017.
