‘Haldaa’ to release in 80 theatres nationwide

Bangladeshi actor and filmmaker Tauquir Ahmed’s 5th feature film “Haldaa” is slated to released on December 1. The film is set to screen in 80 theatres across Bangladesh, which is more than the total number of cinemas the director’s previous four films got altogether. The filmmaker’s earlier films - “Oggatonama,” “Joyjatra,” “Rupkothar Golpo” and “Daruchini Dwip” were critically acclaimed yet did not receive such amount of screen numbers. Ovi Kothachitro, the distributor of the film said this in a recent statement. They also said that they have already confirmed booking in 79 theatres and few of them might get cut off but a few more will join the list. The distribution company is confident that “Haldaa” will get more than 80 theatres all over the country. Tauquir, who recently won an award at the Saarc Film Festival for Best Screenplay told the press a few days back that he wants “Haldaa” to be a film that receives commercial success, as well as critically appreciated. He also said that Ovi Kothachitro came aboard with the same goal and wants to confirm at least 30 to 40 halls. But the recent news has exceeded the director’s expectations. The film’s story was written by Azad Bulbul whereas the screenplay was written by Tauquir Ahmed himself. The river Haldaa and the life of the people living near it have been the main focus of the film. Issues like the struggles of the river-dwelling people, land erosion are going to be featured in the film. The three main leads are played by actors Zahid Hasan, Mosharraf Karim and Nusrat Imrose Tisha. Mosharraf Karim is portraying the character of a fisherman, while Zahid Hasan will be seen as the antagonist. Dilara Zaman, Fazlur Rahman Babu, Shahed Ali, Runa Khan will also be seen in supporting characters.
