‘Ankhi O Tar Bondhura’ gets uncut censor nod

Morshedul Islam's impending children's film “Ankhi O Tar Bondhura” has received an uncut censor nod. Based on the popular novel by Muhammad Zafar Iqbal of the same name, “Ankhi O Tar Bondhura” revolves around a bunch of youngsters. Ankhi, a blind girl, comes to study at a regular school, where, with the support of a new headmistress, Dr Raisa, her classmate Titu and others, Ankhi always feels included. When the students go to Bandarban to celebrate their victory for a school cricket tournament, they are snatched by a group of human traffickers. However, through their wit and bravery, they escape and eventually help get the perpetrators arrested. Ankhi’s story inspires other children with special needs to join the school. Made under the banner of Impress Telefilms in collaboration with Monon Chalachitra, the film is also a recipient of the National Film Grant. The 14th film of the noted filmmaker, which is slated to release on December 22, has been lauded by members of the censor board, informed Morshedul Islam. The poster and music of the film were released earlier during a press conference held on October 28. Zahin Nawar Haque donned the lead role in the film, while Ananya Samuel, Juarriya Ahmed, Ariyana Kabir, Shakil Ahmed, Ayman Mahmud, Abdus Shihab, Syed Ashkizzaman, Dhrubanti, and Navid Hasan were cast in other roles. Aside from the child actors, Subarna Mustafa, Tariq Anam Khan, Sushmita Sinha, Manna Hira, and Al Mansur, among others are also part of the film. Making his debut in 1984 with the short film “Agami, Morshedul Islam gradually paved his way to become one of the prominent filmmakers of this country and performed a leading role in establishing an alternative film movement in Bangladesh. He made his first children’s film “Dipu Number Two” in 1996. The film was acclaimed by the audience, particularly by the younger audience. Apart from filmmaking, Morshedul Islam is actively involved with the film society movement of the country.
