Hemanta Sadeeq’s short film A Letter To God has been nominated for nine international film festivals.
The movie will compete against 22 other entries in a programme, selected from 200 contestants from around the world at the Global Youth Festival in Los Angeles.
A Letter To God is based on the story of a girl who rows a boat to school.
When she notices that her father is upset, she asks him why. The girl’s father tells her he is crippled by financial issues and only God can help them.
The film was shot in Bandarban, with the casting done by Pry Marma and Aung Chow.
A Letter To God will be screened at the Geo Fim Festival and Expocinema in Cittadella, Italy as a part of the main programme on November 9 and the Ringerike International Youth Film Festival in Norway.
The film was also showcased at the Aerojet International Film Festival in Morocco in September, as well as the 3rd Asian Youth Micro Film Exhibition.
Hemanta won the Young Talent Award in the10th International Children’s Film Festival in Bangladesh.
