Jaya Ahsan on high demand

Jaya Ahsan, the doe-eyed beauty from Bangladesh, has had her fair share of admiration in her native industry. But with her rare combination of stunning beauty and an equal share of talent, Jaya is now triumphing beyond the borders. It has taken the three-time National Award-winning actress only five years to conquer Tollywood, creating her own space in the wish lists of every Tollywood director. Launched by Arindam Sil in Aborto (2012), Jaya furthered her quest beyond the borders though Srijit Mukherji’s Rajkahini, which was both praised and panned in Bangladesh. But Jaya’s role in Koushik Ganguly’s Bishorjon has garnered her with some special attention and reverence. Her portrayal of Padma, a bucolic Hindu widow living on the banks of Ichamoti river, has been widely applauded by audiences of all classes and areas. This has been further proven recently, when Jaya got the invitation to inaugurate the Bishwakarma Puja in Murshidabad’s Bhagirati Dairy. The sensational actress has responded to the call and inaugurated the Puja on September 17. She lit the candles on the stage afterwards and received some gifts from the organisers as well. Moreover, Jaya will be celebrated in Dhaka’s Gulshan-Banani Puja Mandap on the Nabami. Paying tribute to her award winning performance in Bishorjon, the whole Puja arrangement was named “Bishorjon O Jaya Sommanona Pradan” - the same film which has handed her the best actress award at the Caleidoscope Indian Film Festival in Massachusetts, US. Her film Bishorjon also clinched the best film award at the festival which ran from September 8 to 11. Recently, Jaya Ahsan has signed up for another Bangla film from Kolkata, in which the star will play a mentally challenged woman. The psychological thriller, titled Brishti Tomake Dilam, is written by Anshuman Pratyush and directed by Arnob Pal. The cast of the film also includes Chiranjeet and Rajesh Sharma, among others. In the film, the Bangladeshi star is going to play a woman with spilt personality disorder, who goes to travel abroad after being advised by her physician to do so. The actress is waiting for a big bash in Bangladesh as well. Her latest film, Khacha, is about to release on September 22. Directed by Akram Khan, the government funded film narrates the story of the partition, based on the novel of Hasan Azizul Haque.
