Shahriar Chowdhury Emon, known by his stage name Salman Shah, was the most popular hero in the 1990s. His fans were obsessed with the actor's appearance, and his roles had a great impact on them. As Salman Shah was an icon to millions of youth, even after 21 years of his sudden death, his fans still cannot forget him. Here are some facts about the actor:
Salman Shah commenced his acting journey with a television drama titled Akash Choa in 1985. Later, he appeared in another television venture, Saikote Sarosh in which his character's name was Rabbi. Salman Shah also ventured in the first episode of another popular drama serial Pathor Shomoy.
In 1993, Shah got his break-through in the film Keyamot Theke Keyamot, directed by Sohanur Rahman Sohan. Sohan got the copyright for two films – Sanam Bewafa and Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak, which released in 1988. Sohan was looking for the ideal match for the role, but could not find any. Then Khashnur Alamgir, mother of Ankhi Alamgir proposed Salman Shah's name. Salman was known as Emon back in those days. Sohan took his audition and finally cast him in the film.
Two new comers were also introduced along with Salman through this film – Moushumi and singer Agun. Agun became the iconic on screen voice of Salman and the duo produced many hit numbers together. But Salman was not seen much with Moushumi after then. He acted with Moushumi in feature films Denmohor and Antore Antore after their debut film.
Salman's maternal grand father played in the first film of East Pakistan, Mukh O Mukhosh. As the family was quite culture oriented, Salman got all the support for his acting endeavours whenever he asked for.
Salman was known as a singer in his friend circle. He completed his certificate course from Chayanaut in Bangla folk song. He also sang songs for his film Prem Juddho.
Salman also appeared in the popular TV show Ittyadi. Hanif Sanket introduced him as a model in the song where Salman played a drug addict, whose life ended in an unfortunate way.
Salman Shah was a trend setter. His fashion materials, starting from his scarf to his bracelet became a trend among the young generation back then.
After his sudden death, almost 22 to 23 girls committed suicide for Salman. One of his friends, Nazrul, became mentally unstable and he was seen several times near FDC, looking for Salman.
Even after 21 years of his death, the mystery remains unsolved. One of his in laws, Rabeya Sultana Ruby, alleged that her brother was part of the ‘plot’ and murdered Salman at the behest of her Chinese husband and the family of Samira Haq, the actor's wife in a viral video message
In four years of Salman's career, he acted in 27 films while 14 of those were with actress Shabnoor, and were big hits.
