Policy recommendations for the interim government of Bangladesh

Outlining urgent and strategic policy recommendations in the immediate, short, and long term for the future of Bangladesh. This is the first part of a four-part series

Update : 13 Sep 2024, 07:15 AM

In light of recent events, the interim government of Bangladesh is tasked with a critical responsibility: Restoring stability and ensuring that the nation continues its trajectory of economic and social progress.

Immediate, near-term, and long-term policy goals must be strategically prioritized to facilitate a swift return to normalcy and to avoid reversing the substantial gains Bangladesh has made in recent decades.

To preserve our stature as one of the top-performing developing economies globally the government must take direct and deliberate actions.

In addition to focusing on stabilizing key economic sectors, ensuring food and energy security, and maintaining public order, immediate policy goals should focus on the elimination of all student politics in educational institutions, elimination of the cybersecurity act, extortion reporting on a government portal, and culling bribery for government services by legitimizing “processing fees.”

This series outlines a clear set of recommendations that will guide the interim government in identifying and acting on the most critical areas of need, ensuring that this period of transition is leveraged to propel Bangladesh into a new era of vibrant growth and prosperity.

Our goal is to set Bangladesh on a path toward sustainable growth and global competitiveness
