Nurturing particular sets of skills from an early age is essential for cementing the future of this country.
One laudable initiative which is doing its best to spread engineering and technological knowledge in this manner is The Tech Lab.
The Tech Lab’s ambitions -- “to reinvent the education system and bring technological advancement all over Bangladesh and the world” -- are manifested in its existence as the first engineering institution for children.
The wellbeing of our children and an increased focus on technology go hand in hand -- they both represent the future.
Moving forward, we need to encourage more such initiatives in the future, initiatives which put the development of the nation first, and have long-term goals in mind. A recent initiative, which will see 389 technical colleges be set up, shows that the government too has its finger on the pulse of the future.
As such, if the government and private sectors can work together in improving the future technical capabilities of the children of this nation, the benefits are limitless. It will also go a long way in preparing our children, so that they are equipped with the skills required to provide for themselves, and will ensure that they remain out of poverty.
The Tech Lab already has several stories of success, of children who have never had an outlet to showcase their talents before. It is in fact representative of what Bangladeshis are capable of, given the opportunity, and showcases how Bangladesh itself is emerging as a nation where dreams can come true.
