Is the world forgetting about the genocide in Gaza?

Now, with Israel’s attacks on Iran and the emergence of a broader conflict, it is obvious that the world's attention has been drawn to the broader war

It’s been twenty months that the Israeli genocide in Gaza has been ongoing, along with the continuation of violence and occupation in the West Bank. It’s almost become a horror show that people are watching on repeat, and the most dangerous aspect of it is the global despair regarding ending Israel’s assault on Palestinians. Now, with Israel’s attacks on Iran and the emergence of a broader conflict, it is obvious that the world's attention has been drawn to the broader war. The newstream and public dialogue has shifted to speculation regarding the US position on the Israeli-Iran war. The media is preoccupied with trying to find answers as to whether the US is directly participating with Israel or not.

Iran is immeasurably larger than Palestine, in area, population and even capabilities above and below the ground. The number of casualties, destruction, is nowhere near what the civilians of the tiny Gaza Strip are facing—from daily strikes, total destruction, forced famine and displacement. The situation in Palestine is unparalleled in the history of conflicts in modern history, and Israel is using its conflict in Iran, and geopolitical dialogue, to divert attention away from its brazen war crimes in Gaza and build more settlements in the West Bank. Iranian missiles have caused severe damage to Soroka Hospital for Israeli forces in Israel to which Israel’s Defense Minister Katz accused Iran of “war crimes of the most serious kind.” To that we ask, what about the hospitals in Gaza? Were those not war crimes? Israel has destroyed and bombed every functional hospital in the Gaza Strip. The Israeli mentality is, “What’s ours is ours and what’s yours is also ours.” They perceive themselves to have the utmost right over anything, and if it wasn’t clear before, they believe themselves to be above every international law.

The result of the current situation is the most dangerous thing that is happening; indifference to Israel’s continuous murder of Palestinian women, children and human beings. The world is becoming accustomed or oblivious to it, for which we Palestinians will continue to pay the price with our lives.
