On March 21, the leading colleges of London came together to compete in the inaugural Teatulia Intervarsity Cycling Race. Organized by Teatulia Organic Teas, the global tea brand of Kazi & Kazi Tea, the race was held at Hillingdon Cycle Circuit. Riders had the opportunity to compete in three different events across the afternoon – an individual time-trial, team time-trial and criterion.
The Teatulia Intervarsity Cycling Race, which is the first of its kind, gave amateur cyclists, as well as more experienced students, a chance to compete with peers from other universities and challenge their own limits. Teams from London School of Economics and Political Science, University College London, King's College, Imperial College, Barts and the London School of Medicine and Dentistry, St. George's University and Brunel University competed at the cycling race. University College London were the overall winners, with special mention given to the women’s team time trial pair.
Teatulia, who sponsors the LSE Cycling Club in addition to funding the race, has long been committed to promoting a healthy lifestyle. Working with athletes and endurance sportsmen and women, Teatulia has developed a range of ‘Energy Teas’, which are healthy alternatives to energy drinks.
“The huge success of the race and the tremendous enthusiasm it has been met with goes to show that there is certainly an appetite for future cycling events. We are now looking forward to next year, where we hope to expand to include many more universities from across the UK," a Teatulia spokesperson noted.
