Professor Kamrul Islam, the founder of the Center for Kidney Diseases (CKD), has carried out about 1000 kidney transplants in 14 years. Apart from the hospital expenses, Professor Kamrul Islam does not accept any remuneration from his patients. His goal of helping people in need was set in 2014 and he was honored with the "Independence Award" for his contributions to medicine and cost free follow-ups for his patients. Over 500 patients avail free tests every month. Instead of spending his savings on a brand new car, he bought a secondhand car in order to have money for two dialysis machines for his hospital.
