Renaissance, a renowned 80s band in Bangladesh, is coming out of a 14-year hiatus with a new record.
The band started recording their latest album last week at Bappa Mazumder’s studio BMG Workstation in Dhaka. They have yet to decide the name of the new album, or how many tracks it will have.
Founded in 1985, Renaissance gained nationwide popularity with songs such as “Hridoy kadamati,” “Bhalo lage,” and “Accha keno manushgulo amon hoy.”
Renaissance’s style of music is laid back and full of rich improvisations.
The band’s current line-up is: Naquib Khan in vocals and keyboard, Pilu Khan in vocals and drums, Reza Rahman in lead guitar, Imran Rahman in vocals and guitar, Kazi Hablu in percussion, and Kaartik in bass.
Till date, the band has released four records: “Renaissance” (1988), “Third World” (1993), “71’s Renaissance” (1988) and “21st Century Renaissance” (2004).
