The positive growth in expatriate income (remittance) continued in July, the first month of the current FY27.

According to the latest updated data from Bangladesh Bank, expatriate Bangladeshis sent a total of $2.859 billion through legal banking channels throughout July.

This is a 15.4% increase compared to the same period last year.

According to the central bank's data, remittance inflow in July 2025 stood at $2.478 billion.

Compared to that, an additional amount of approximately $381 million arrived in July of this year.

Meanwhile, $152 million in remittance arrived in the country during the last two days of the month (July 30 and 31).

Consequently, the total remittance amount for the entire month reached $2.859 billion.

According to analysts, the positive trend in remittance inflow is driven by increased interest among expatriates to send money through legal banking channels, heightened vigilance against hundi (illegal money transfers), and improvements in the banking system.

Stakeholders believe this will have a favorable impact on the country's foreign exchange reserves, import expenses, and the overall macroeconomy.

Remittance is one of the primary sources of foreign exchange for Bangladesh's economy. Therefore, this growth in July is being viewed as a positive sign for the economy at the very start of the new fiscal year.
