Remittance drops lowest in 16 months

During the first three months of the 2021-22 fiscal year, the country’s remittance inflow was $5.40 billion, down from $6.71 billion for the same period of the previous financial year

The country's remittance inflow dropped by 19.74% in a year to $1.72 billion in September. 

It is also the lowest in the last 16 months, since May last year.

In May 2020, the remittance inflow was $1.50 billion. 

Meanwhile, in September last year, the expatriates sent $2.15 billion to Bangladesh. 

The findings came in the recent remittance data released by the Bangladesh Bank on Sunday. 

According to BB data, the remittance inflow in September this year is 5% lower from August.
