Mercantile Bank gives scholarship to 1091 students

Mercantile Bank Limited on Wednesday distributed education scholarships among 1,091 students. The scholarships, which amount to a total of Tk1.25 crore, were provided under the “Mercantile Bank Abdul Jalil Education Scholarship 2015.” Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed was present as the chief guest at the function at Bangabandhu International Conference Center distributed the education scholarship, said a press release. He urged the students to prepare themselves through education and hard work to serve the nation as responsible citizens. Commerce Minister recalled the contribution of the bank’s founder Chairman Abdul Jalil and hoped that MBL will encourage the students to achieve academic excellence. Iqbal Sobhan Chowdhury, Information Affairs Adviser to Prime Minister, and Akram Hossain Humayun, Mercantile Bank Foundation Chairman, were also present as special guests. MBL Chairman Shahidul Ahsan presided over the function. Managing Director and CEO of MBL Kazi Masihur Rahman delivered the welcome speech.
