Avery Dennison has opened a new Smart Warehouse at the Dhaka Export Processing Zone (DEPZ) in Savar, expanding its use of automation and digital technology to support manufacturers serving global apparel and footwear markets.

The 830-square-meter facility features seven automated guided vehicles (AGVs), connected packing software and a warehouse management system, with storage capacity for 25,000 cartons.

According to Avery Dennison, the connected packing system optimizes workflow and enables 72% faster processing. The facility is also designed to handle a fivefold increase in inbound volume compared with the previous capacity, double outbound velocity and increase inventory density by 50%.

The facility is part of Avery Dennison’s broader Manufacturing 4.0 initiative in Bangladesh.

US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen attended the opening, along with Executive Chairman of the Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain, ndc, afwc, psc, G, MPhil; President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Bangladesh (AmCham) Syed Mohammad Kamal; and Avery Dennison’s executive leadership team.

The facility was developed in response to rising demand for faster fulfillment, greater customization and more transparent supply chains.

Avery Dennison said fragmented workflows and delays in inventory data had previously contributed to picking delays and logistics inefficiencies, prompting the move toward a more integrated digital warehouse operation.

“Congratulations to Avery Dennison on the opening of its new Smart Warehouse in Bangladesh. This investment is an excellent example of American business, technology, and innovation strengthening the commercial relationship between our two countries,” Ambassador Christensen said.

“Avery Dennison has been a valued member of the BEPZA since 2003. Over the years, the company has made a remarkable contribution to the readymade garment and textile industry,” Major General Mohammad Moazzem Hossain said.

“Avery Dennison is not simply bringing investment to Bangladesh; it is also bringing technology, knowledge and modern production practices. Technology transfer and the development of a skilled local workforce are among the most valuable long-term benefits that foreign direct investment can bring to a developing economy,” he said.

Michael Barton, senior vice president and general manager, Apparel Solutions, Solutions Group, Avery Dennison, emphasized the company’s long-term commitment to Bangladesh.

“Bangladesh is an important part of our global apparel business. We are fully committed to growing alongside the industry here. As customer requirements become faster, more customized and more data-driven, the infrastructure supporting apparel production must evolve as well. This facility brings together automation, connected systems and our teams’ expertise to strengthen the speed and reliability with which we serve customers,” Barton said.

Sazzad Hossain, general manager, Bangladesh and Sri Lanka, Apparel Solutions, Solutions Group, Avery Dennison, said accuracy and speed were increasingly important as customers manage demanding production schedules and more complex orders.

“Our customers manage demanding production schedules and increasingly complex orders, so accuracy and speed are essential,” Hossain said.

“By improving visibility of stock and connecting packing, storage and dispatch more closely, the Smart Warehouse strengthens the service behind our apparel solutions and helps us respond more effectively as customers move towards shorter lead times and more customized production,” he said.

The Smart Warehouse will support apparel and footwear factories serving Bangladesh and global markets by improving inventory visibility and responsiveness while reducing picking delays and logistics errors.

The facility is part of Avery Dennison’s wider apparel solutions portfolio, including Embelex™, its apparel embellishment platform covering heat transfers, embroidered patches, woven labels and specialty graphics; Optica™, its end-to-end supply chain solutions portfolio; and radio-frequency identification (RFID) and other digital identification technologies.

Together, the solutions are designed to help brands and manufacturers create branded products, improve inventory visibility and strengthen traceability across production, distribution and retail.
