Customs House, Dhaka has taken the initiative to auction various types of goods that have been stored at the Air Freight Unit and Express Service Unit of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport for a long time.

This special e-auction has been organized to increase operational efficiency and capacity, reduce security risks, and prevent wastage of state resources.

The National Board of Revenue (NBR) gave this information in a press release on Thursday (June 18).

The release said that various types of goods stored at the Air Freight Unit and Express Service Unit under the jurisdiction of Customs House, Dhaka will be sold through e-auction on an ‘as is’ basis. Online tenders have been invited from interested buyers for this purpose.

According to a special order of the NBR, even if the reserved price is not met for any lot in the first auction, the concerned lot will be sold to the highest bidder among the bids received.

Those interested in participating in the auction can register or log in to the designated e-auction website of Customs and NBR from 9 am on June 19 to 1 pm on July 2 and submit their bids.

The auction process will be conducted completely digitally, the NBR said. To ensure transparency and accountability, bidders have been given the opportunity to inspect the goods on site. After the inspection, they can submit their bids online. However, along with the online bid, the security deposit pay order and necessary documents will have to be submitted in the designated tender box.

The notification mentioned that the highest bidders will have to unload the goods in accordance with the applicable conditions of the Import Policy Order.

Meanwhile, the information of the bidders participating through the e-auction software will be published in the conference room of Customs House, Dhaka at 3 pm on July 2.

The National Board of Revenue said that such auction activities will continue in the future to make the activities of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport more dynamic and efficient.
