A new controversy has arisen regarding the presentation of customers' demands regarding Islami Bank Bangladesh PLC.

The Islami Bank Conscious Customer Forum has claimed that their leaders met with Bangladesh Bank Governor Md Mostakur Rahman and the governor gave a positive opinion on the seven-point demands related to the bank.

However, Bangladesh Bank has officially denied this claim.

On Wednesday (June 17), Bangladesh Bank assistant spokesperson Shahriar Siddiqui said in a message that the governor did not hold any meeting, session or meeting with the Islami Bank Conscious Customer Forum.

He said: "Today, Wednesday at 11 am, a three-member delegation of the Customer Forum met Bangladesh Bank deputy governor Md Kabir Ahmed and presented their statement. They did not have any meeting with the governor."

Earlier on the same day, the Islamic Bank Consumer Awareness Forum claimed in a press release that the leaders of the organization had met with Bangladesh Bank Governor Mostakur Rahman.

The organization's convener, Prof Nur Un Nabi, said that the governor agreed with the seven-point demands raised regarding Islami Bank.

According to him, the governor considered the matter positively after submitting a memorandum to the governor on behalf of the affected customers and shareholders on Tuesday.

Nabi also claimed that the meeting discussed restoring the past traditions of Islami Bank, ensuring good governance, protecting the interests of customers, and overcoming the current situation of the bank. He also mentioned that the governor expressed a positive attitude towards the seven-point demands.

However, at the end of the day, Bangladesh Bank's official statement clarified that the customer forum delegation did not meet the governor, but deputy governor Md Kabir Ahmed.

As a result, questions have been raised about the meeting with the governor and his agreement to the seven-point demands made by the consumer forum.
