In the realm of electric vehicles (EVs), Tesla has once again raised the bar with its groundbreaking creation – the Cybertruck. Unveiled amidst much fanfare, this futuristic pickup truck not only flaunts a robust, angular design that defies conventional norms but also seamlessly integrates cutting-edge technologies poised to redefine the automotive landscape.

While taking the global automotive industry by storm lately, it would simply be unjust to not talk about the Cybertruck this week. Let’s see what we know about the unique vehicle so far.

Design

The Cybertruck's exoskeleton design is not merely a futuristic facade; it's the core of its unique allure. Crafted from ultra-hard 30X cold-rolled stainless steel, this design renders the vehicle exceptionally durable and resistant to dents and damage. Serving both functional and aesthetic purposes, the exoskeleton imparts to the Cybertruck an otherworldly, angular appearance.

Enhancing safety and security, the Cybertruck is equipped with Tesla's Armor Glass, ensuring its windows are incredibly robust. Despite a minor glitch during the live demonstration, the promise of glass resistant to impact and damage remains a pivotal feature for potential buyers.

Technology

Adding to its technological prowess, the Cybertruck features an adaptive air suspension system that empowers drivers to adjust ride height, optimizing both off-road capabilities and aerodynamics. This innovation provides a smooth and customizable driving experience, catering to a variety of terrains and preferences.

Beyond its striking appearance, the Cybertruck is a technological marvel. Leveraging Tesla's renowned Autopilot capabilities, it boasts advanced driver-assistance features. While the standard Autopilot includes functions like adaptive cruise control and lane-keeping assistance, the Full Self-Driving (FSD) package propels the vehicle further, promising eventual autonomy pending regulatory approval.

One of the most unconventional features of the Tesla Cybertruck lies in its steering mechanism, which breaks away from the traditional norm of a direct mechanical connection between the steering wheel and the wheels. Unlike conventional vehicles, the Cybertruck employs a steer-by-wire system, wherein the steering inputs from the driver are transmitted electronically rather than through a physical linkage.

1This innovative approach not only contributes to the Cybertruck's futuristic appeal but also opens the door to enhanced control and maneuverability. The steer-by-wire technology allows for adaptive and programmable steering response, providing drivers with a customizable driving experience. While this departure from the conventional setup may initially raise eyebrows, it aligns seamlessly with Tesla's commitment to pushing the boundaries of automotive technology and delivering a driving experience that is both cutting-edge and user-centric.

The Cybertruck in 3 distinct specs

The single motor rear-wheel drive, when fully charged, boasts an estimated range of over 250 miles, accelerates from 0-60 mph in less than 6.5 seconds, and has a towing capacity of 7,500+ pounds—an essential metric when compared to traditional pickup trucks like the Ford F-150.

The dual motor all-wheel drive extends the estimated range to over 300 miles, achieves 0-60 mph in less than 4.5 seconds, and boasts a towing capacity of 10,000+ pounds.

At the pinnacle is the Cyber Beast, a tri-motor all-wheel drive, offering an estimated range of over 500 miles and accelerating from 0-60 mph in less than 2.9 seconds—territory typically reserved for supercars. Remarkably, this speed doesn't compromise its other capabilities, as the Cyber Beast can tow an impressive 14,000+ pounds.

Starting at $60,000 in the US market and the top-spec at $100,000, each variant of the Cybertruck caters to diverse preferences and needs, from efficient city driving to powerful off-road capabilities and substantial towing capacity.

The price tags do not seem too much when you think about the Bangladesh car market, but highly doubtful if this vehicle will come here any time soon. And even if it does at some point, I’m sure there will be a huge tax slapped on its base price.

The Tesla Cybertruck emerges as a game-changer in the automotive industry, not only for its bold design but also for the revolutionary technologies it integrates. With an emphasis on durability, safety, and performance, the Cybertruck is poised to reshape perceptions of what a pickup truck can be, setting a new standard for electric vehicles in the years to come.
