Update : 05 Nov 2023, 10:25 PM

The 2022 Honda Civic has long been a benchmark in the compact car segment, known for its reliability, fuel efficiency, and practicality and a car that we have featured a few times on Drive.

The latest 1.5L turbocharged model offers several improvements while retaining the qualities that have made it a popular choice for many drivers.

Priced at around Tk60 lakh, in this review, I will outline the pros and cons of this popular car.

Efficiency: The 1.5L turbocharged engine is a standout feature of the 2022 Civic. It delivers impressive power for its size, producing 180 horsepower and 177 lb-ft of torque. This engine provides brisk acceleration, making the Civic an enjoyable car to drive.

The 1.5L engine is not only peppy but also fuel-efficient. With its turbocharging technology and a continuously variable transmission (CVT), it achieves impressive fuel economy ratings, making it a great choice for those seeking an economical daily driver.

Roomy interior: The Civic's interior is spacious for a compact car. Both front and rear passengers will find plenty of legroom and headroom. The well-designed cabin layout and comfortable seats add to the overall driving experience.

And the 2022 Civic comes with a modern infotainment system, which is easy to use and responsive. It offers smartphone integration through Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, providing seamless connectivity and navigation options.

Limited cargo space: While the interior is spacious for passengers, the Civic's trunk space can be a bit limiting, which may be a drawback for those needing to carry larger items. The rear seats do fold down to expand the cargo area, but the design could be more practical.

Road noise: Some drivers may find that the Civic has more road noise compared to its competitors. This could be a bit distracting on longer highway trips, but it's not a significant issue for most drivers.

Suspension: The suspension in the 2022 Civic is tuned for a comfortable ride, which is generally a good thing. However, some drivers may find that it lacks the sporty feel and precision of its predecessors, particularly in more aggressive driving situations.

The 2022 Honda Civic with the 1.5L engine is a solid choice in the compact car segment, offering a balance of performance, efficiency, and comfort. It excels in terms of fuel economy, spacious interior, and safety features. However, it falls short in cargo space, can be noisier on the road, and may not satisfy those looking for a sportier driving experience. It's crucial to consider your specific needs and preferences when deciding if the 2022 Civic is the right car for you.

Mazda 3

The 2022 Mazda 3 is a compact car popularly also known as the Mazda Axela in the Bangladesh car market has gained a reputation for its stylish design, enjoyable driving experience, and impressive build quality. With a 1.5L engine option, it offers a more fuel-efficient choice for those who prioritize economy over pure performance.

Priced at Tk45-50 lakh reconditioned, in this review, we'll explore the pros and cons of the 2022 Mazda 3.

Sleek design: The Mazda 3 has always been known for its striking design, and the 2022 model is no exception. It features elegant lines, a refined front grille, and a well-proportioned body. It stands out in the crowded compact car segment with its premium appearance.

Interior quality: The cabin is well-crafted with premium materials, comfortable seating, and a user-friendly infotainment system. It feels more luxurious than many of its competitors in this class.

Excellent handling: Mazda has a reputation for producing cars that are a joy to drive, and the Mazda 3 with the 1.5L engine is no exception. The steering is precise, and the suspension setup strikes a great balance between comfort and sportiness. It offers a spirited and engaging driving experience, making it fun to navigate both city streets and winding roads.

Fuel efficiency: The 1.5L engine is an excellent choice for those looking to save on fuel costs. It delivers respectable fuel economy figures, making it an attractive option for those with a long commute or anyone concerned about environmental impact.

The 2022 Mazda 3 also comes with a host of advanced safety features, including adaptive cruise control, blind-spot monitoring, lane-keeping assist, and automatic emergency braking. These features enhance the overall driving experience and contribute to the car's safety.

Limited power: While the 1.5L engine is efficient, it lacks the punch of the larger engine options available for the Mazda 3. This can make highway overtaking a bit of a challenge.

Limited interior space: The Mazda 3's stylish design comes at a cost in terms of rear passenger space. The sloping roofline reduces headroom in the rear, which might not be comfortable for taller passengers.

On the other hand, while the infotainment system is user-friendly, it relies heavily on a rotary controller located between the front seats. Some drivers may prefer a touchscreen interface, which is more intuitive for certain tasks.

Limited cargo space: The Mazda 3's trunk space is smaller than some competitors in the compact car segment. If you have a lot of cargo to carry, you might find the limited space restrictive.

The 2022 Mazda 3 with the 1.5L engine offers a compelling package for those looking for an efficient and stylish compact car. It excels in terms of design, interior quality, and driving dynamics. However, it's not the most powerful option in its class, and rear passenger space and cargo capacity are limited.

Overall, it's a great choice for those who value style, comfort, and fuel efficiency over sheer performance. If you are looking for more power, the Civic is a better choice.
