JBCCI, JCIAD jointly celebrates International Women’s Day 2023

Japan Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce & Industry (JBCCI) and Japanese Commerce & Industry Association in Dhaka (JCIAD) jointly organized a seminar titled “Creating & Embracing Equity in Workplace” in celebration of “International Women's Day 2023” on Sunday at a city hotel. 

Charge d'Affaires of the Embassy of Japan Tatsuya Machida attended the program as chief guest and Humaira Azam, MD & CEO of Trust Bank was the guest speaker in the program, reads a press release.

The board of directors of JBCCI, JCIAD, distinguished panellists along with the members of both JBCCI and JCIAD were present there. Md Emran, Executive Director of JBCCI conducted the program

Hikari Kawai, president delivered the welcome speech and explained the women's contribution to the economy of Bangladesh. Then, Abdul Haque, Past President of JBCCI shared the brief story of JBCCI's inception and its continuous support to promote bilateral trade and investment between Japan and Bangladesh in his remarks. 

Humaira Azam, MD & CEO of Trust Bank explained that in today's era, women are doing very well in their respective areas and they are doing it very well and contributing a lot to the country's economy. 

Maria Howlader and Saori Fujimoto, directors of JBCCI moderated two panel discussion sessions. The distinguished panellists shared their personal work-related experiences and how women are evolving from their perspectives. 

They shared the facts that there are a number of women entrepreneurs in Bangladesh, who are doing very well. Women are equally contributing along with Men. To ensure the “Smart Bangladesh,” the contribution of women is also very important and people should embrace the equity of women in the workplace.

Tatsuya Machida, Charge d'affaires, Embassy of Japan appreciated and thanked JBCCI and JCIAD for organizing this important session. 

He mentioned that the panel discussion sessions were very insightful and useful. He also shared his views on Women's presence in the workplace is very important to ensure sustainable growth of the economy. 

In Bangladesh, women's participation and contribution are gradually increasing. very much high and he hopes that it will grow more in the coming days.

In closing remarks, Myung-Ho Lee, President of JCIAD thanked everyone for attending the program and appreciated all the discussants for their valuable insights and success stories which will inspire others too. 

He also acknowledged that Women's presence in the workplace is important for a growing economy like Bangladesh.
