Hatil, an exquisite furniture manufacturer and the leading furniture brand in Bangladesh, is successfully extending its showrooms globally.

On June 13, the brand inaugurated its showroom in Guwahati, the 26th outlet in India. Hatil proudly announces itself as the only brand in Bangladesh expanding its business with a maximum number of outlets overseas including India under its brand name, reads a press release.

At the inauguration ceremony, Aimee Baruah, a well-known actress, filmmaker and social activist, was present as the chief guest. Selim H Rahman, chairman and managing director, and Mizanur Rahman, director of finance and accounts of Hatil Bangladesh were also present.

On the day of opening, a significant number of clients visited the showroom. From other showrooms in India, Ajay Yadav from Pune and Tobias Bende from Aizwal were present at the ceremony.

Among the prospective franchise owners, Pankaj Singh, Sanjeev Sharma and Navin Sethi from Nagaland, Laiphrakpam Babuchand and Laiphrakpam Bhagyabati from Manipur, Mahamood Rafi Shaik from Hyderabad, and Sabir Shaiks from Ahmedabad also joined there.

Previously, the brand opened 25 showrooms across different states, including Mizoram, Manipur, West Bengal, Jharkhand, Maharashtra, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir in India and two in Thimphu in Bhutan. Hatil also exports its products to Canada, the USA, Australia, the Middle East, Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and Europe.

“India is one of the largest furniture markets in the world, and there is huge competition. Alongside local furniture manufacturers, brands from Italy, China, Vietnam and Cambodia are dominating the market with a large market share. Competitive price plays a crucial role in sustaining and augmenting market share. If our furniture sector is allowed to avail bonded warehouse facility, the import duty on the raw materials is rationalised and logistic costs can be minimized, this sector can be competitive with that of China, Vietnam, Cambodia and other furniture manufacturing countries,” said Selim H Rahman.

“However, despite such limitations, we have been providing furniture at a competitive price in the international market since 2013. People have started showing interest in our products because of Hatil’s quality and finishing. With the positive response from the market, we are expanding our showrooms here also. Furthermore, to create new markets, we have been attending various International Furniture Fairs in Bangladesh, Dubai, India and Thailand. The production capacity that we have is enough to maintain the demand of the local and international market, maintaining the best quality, and we are still happy seeing the response from the market of our neighbouring friend,” he added.
