The e-Commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-CAB) has suspended the membership of four e-commerce companies including Evaly and Dhamaka.

Two other companies are - Sirajganj Shop and Glitters RST World.

The decision to cancel the membership of the companies was taken at a meeting of e-Cab's executive council on Tuesday, said a notification, signed by e-CAB's General Manager Jahangir Alam Shovon, issued on Wednesday.

Earlier, e-CAB sent show-cause notices to 16 companies on July 18 following several allegations of fraud from customers and merchants.

On August 18, e-CAB suspended memberships of four other e-commerce firms, including Eorange and 24tkt.

On August 28, e-CAB formed an 11-member compliance advisory committee to take a decision on the other accused companies. The committee recommended suspension of membership of the companies.

Following the notice and recommendation, the membership of the four companies has been suspended due to non-response to complaints, unsatisfactory response, non-compliance with Digital Commerce Management Guideline-2021 and non-payment of dues to buyers and consumers on time.

Due to the suspension of membership, the companies will not be able to spend 10,000 thousand dollars in foreign currency, which the members of e-CAB can. Apart from this, they will be deprived of other benefits of the alliance.

The four companies have been asked to submit reports within 30 days of settling customer and merchant dues, implementing digital commerce guidelines and settling other complaints. Otherwise, the membership of the companies may be cancelled considering the analysis of the complaint and the situation, the notice read.
