Walton has honored Mohammad Suruj – a rickshaw puller from Dhaka – with special gifts after a video of him taking photos of the Parliament building with a feature phone of the same brand went viral.

Walton Managing Director Golam Murshed handed over the gifts to Suruj, which included Walton’s new flagship smartphone, Primo ZX4, and cash aid, at its corporate office in the capital on Wednesday, read a press release on Thursday.

Golam Murshed said: “Suruj is our valued customer. We are delighted to have the opportunity to fulfill his dream of having a smartphone for photography.

“I would like to thank and congratulate all those who have brought him up on social media. Walton has become everyone’s trusted brand for people like Suruj.

Suruj, who has been peddling rickshaws in this city for 18 years, loves taking pictures which he later shows to his two sons and three daughters to entertain them and enrich their knowledge.

All he had was a Walton feature phone, given to him by his sister, to carry on with his hobby.

Earlier in August, Mazharul Haque Muhajir, a student of Daffodil International University, shot a video of Suruj while he was taking snapshots of the Parliament building and uploaded it on Facebook.

The video went viral instantly on different social media platforms and netizens started praising Suruj for his photography skills.

Present at the event on Wednesday were Walton’s Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) Firoj Alam, Executive Director Adnan Afzal, Deputy Operative Director Jiban Ahmed and Mahbub-ul-Hasan and video uploader Mazharul Haque Muhajir, among others.
