Japan to provide US $32.5m for Rohingyas, host communities

Till now, Japan has granted a total US $50.2 million dollars to support the Rohigyas

The government of Japan has decided to provide US $32.5 million dollars as additional support for the Rohingyas and their host communities in Cox's Bazar. 

Since the massive influx of Rohingyas into Bangladesh began in August 2017, the government of Japan had granted approximately US $50.2 million dollars to international organisations to assist the displaced population.

With this additional support, the total amount of assistance has reached the sum of US $82.7 million dollars, said the Japanese Embassy in Dhaka on Tuesday.

The support provided by Japan will help a number of different international organizations to the manage camps and regenerate the forest, plus, provide: food and shelter, medical services, training, wash facilities, and so on.

The list of international organizations working for the Rohingyas include the: United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees , International Organization for Migration, United Nations Population Fund, United Nations International Children's Emergency Fund, Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women, World Food Programme, World Health Organization, International Committee of the Red Cross, Global Partnership for Education, and Medecins Sans Frontieres.
