12kg LPG price hiked by Tk57

The new price will be effective from Tuesday 6pm

Update : 02 May 2023, 03:33 PM

The price of a 12kg liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) at the consumer level has been hiked by Tk57.

Each 12kg cylinder will be sold at Tk1,235, up from the earlier Tk1,178, the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission (BERC) said.

BERC chairman Nurul Amin announced the new price at a press conference organized at the Bangladesh Energy Regulatory Commission office on Tuesday.

The new price will be effective from Tuesday 6pm.

It was mentioned in the press conference that the price of a 12.5kg cylinder has not changed at the government level. The previous price was Tk591.

Earlier in April, BERC lowered the price of 12-kilogram cylinders of LPG by Tk244.

The BERC fixes the price of LPG sold by private companies in cylinders in line with Saudi Aramco's contract prices of propane and butane, the main ingredients of LPG.

The price of LPG has been fluctuating due to the dollar and fuel crises caused by the Russia-Ukraine war.

Earlier in March, the BERC adjusted the price of 12-kg LPG cylinders from Tk1,498 to Tk1,422.

In February, the price of every 12-kg cylinder had seen a steep rise - from Tk1,232 to Tk1,498.
