Brunei to supply LNG from next year

Khandker Anwarul said the prime minister directed the officials to refrain from undertaking development projects unnecessarily

Cabinet Secretary Khandker Anwarul Islam has said that Bangladesh wiil be able to import LNG from Brunei next year.

The development was discussed in the meeting with the secretaries at the Prime Minister's office on Sunday. The meeting was chaired by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

After the meeting, Khandker Anwarul Islam gave this information during a press briefing at the Secretariat.

The cabinet secretary said: “The nation is experiencing an energy crisis. Next year, LNG will be accessible from Brunei. We will put emphasis on food, fertilizer, and fuel first.”

Khandker Anwarul said the prime minister directed the officials to refrain from undertaking projects unnecessarily. Rather, the officials were directed to prioritize project implementation through foreign aid and loans.
