Nasim: BNP to meet fate of Muslim League

Update : 17 Mar 2015, 08:51 PM

Health Minister Mohammad Nasim yesterday said if BNP continued with programmes like hartal and blockade, it would meet the fate of Muslim League.

Terming BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia a queen of militants and terrorists, Nasim called upon her to seek apology from the nation for killing innocent people.

Nasim was speaking at a discussion organised by Sheikh Russell Jatiya Shishu-Kishore Parishad at the National Press Club, held to mark the 95th birth anniversary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

In another function, Food Minister Quamrul Islam said the evil forces of 1971 and 1975 were still active in the country.

“BNP founder Ziaur Rahman initiated state-sponsored terrorism and tried to erase the spirit of the Liberation War through the assassination of Bangabandhu,” he said.

In Gopalganj, Awami League Presidium member Sheikh Fazlul Karim Selim said Khaleda could face another arrest warrant if she skipped the next hearing in two graft cases.

About BNP leader Salahuddin Ahmed’s disappearance, Selim said issuing statements and video messages from undisclosed locations can be compared with the acts of members of al-Qaeda, Taliban and ISIS.

Addressing a programme at Sheikh Fazilatunnesa Women’s College, he warned that the government would crack down on terrorists, saboteurs and militants.

He said Khaleda would be brought to book and no one would be able to save her from the law that treats everyone equally.

“Article 35 of the constitution says anyone assuming power illegally and those working as his or her abettors will be tried under the existing laws.

The highest punishment for such crime is death,” said the former minister.

He described BNP’s agitation as acts of subversion and militancy.

Selim said there would be a change in the government only after elections.
