BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia along with hundred of leaders and activists have paid homage to the party founder and late president Ziaur Rahman’s grave on Friday morning.
Party flag was hoisted half-mast in the party’s Nayapaltan headquarters and all the party offices across the country to mark the death anniversary of the party founder.
Ziaur Rahman was assassinated by a group of military officials on the day in 1981 at Chittagong Circuit House and since then the party observed the day as “Sahadat Day.”
Khaleda Zia along with party’s senior leader placed wreaths at the party founder’s grave around 11:30am and offered fateha. Party leaders and activists showed respect to the leader remaining silent for one minute in the grave premises.
Khaleda attended the doa-mehfil programme organised by Jatiyatabadi Olama Dal at the grave premises.
Party’s acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir inaugurated a blood donation camp at the grave premises organised by Doctors Association of Bangladesh and Zia Sankskritik Sangathan.
The BNP chairperson distributed foods among the poor at TNT field of Farmgate Khamarbari, Mohammadpur Town Hall ground and Sahid Park ground.
