The dawn-to-dusk hartal called by the Awami League in protest against the killing of Awami League-backed Fulgazi Upazila Chairman Ekramul Haq has been observed in the upazila on Thursday.
The hartal began at 6am and ended at 6pm.
Hartal supporters brought out separate processions in Munshiganj, Fulgazi Sadar Upazila, Kalir Hat, Anondopur and Munshir Hat areas of the district in the morning.
Meanwhile, they also put logs and set fire on the roads that halted the vehicular movement in the areas.
Fulgazi Upazila Chairman and Awami Legaue General Secretary Abdul Alam said: “We demand the unfolding of the mystery behind such killings and arrest of the culprits.”
The Fulgazi upazila chairman of Feni was shot and burnt to death in his car by miscreants in the district town on Tuesday morning. Three others including a media person were injured in the incident.
On Wednesday morning, a total of 23 people have been detained over the brutal killing of Ekramul Hoque.
