Police have arrested Barisal district Jamaat secretary along with three activists of the party on early Sunday.
The arrestees are Azizur Rahman Walid, 40, district (west) Jamaat secretary, Gazi Mustafa,38, Azam Khan, 31, and Zakir Hossain, 35.
Shaheduzzaman, Barisal Airport police station officer-in-charge, said police conducted a raid in the house of Azizur Rahman and arrested them around 3:30am.
They were sent to jail after producing before the court showing arrested in cases of political violence, the OC said.
Protesting the arrests, Barisal city unit of Jamaat-e-Islami observed a half-day hartal on Sunday.
