Unified Gonojagoron Moncho demanded

Update : 15 May 2014, 07:24 PM

At least 13 progressive organisations representing groups of students, cultural and Liberation War activists have urged immediate unification of Gonojagoron Moncho  with a view to strengthen its movement against war criminals.

They also urged two factions of the platform to stop using the banner of Gonojagoron Moncho as their separate programmes were tarnishing its image.

The demands came from a press conference at Shahbagh intersection yesterday where the activists of Jasad Chhatra League, Bangladesh Chhatra Moitri, Chhatra Andolon, Chhatra Samiti, Chhatra Oikya Forum, BOAN, and members of several cultural and pro-liberation groups were present.

Shamsul Islam Sumon, president of Jasad Chhatra league, said the two factions of Gonojagoron Moncho had been quarrelling and blaming against each other using the banner.

Chhatra Moitri President Bappaditya Basu said a split in the platform would benefit the anti-liberation forces.

He urged all the Moncho activists, who began the movement against razakars and Jamaat-e-Islami on February 5 last year, to be united with a view to make its future programmes success.

Among others, Chhatra Moitri General Secretary Tanvir Rusmat, Chhatra Samiti Convener Zahidul Islam Khan, Chhatra Andolon General Secretary Nazrul Islam Shikder, Chhatra Oikya Convener Shohan Sobhan and Boan member Animesh Rahman were present.
