Police have arrested the president of Jhaoil union BNP during a joint operation early Tuesday.
The arrestee Abdul Awal, 52, is also the chairman of the union.
DB police Official Nasir Uddin said: “Abdul Awal was arrested from his home in an operation jointly conducted by Bangabondhu Bridge (west) police station, Kamarkhand police station and DB police.
He is arrested for subversive activities in Dhaka-Sirajganj-Rajshahi highway during the anti- government movement of BNP last year,” he added.
A Sirajganj court later sent him to jail, he added.
