hittagong police have filed a case against the Ameer of Chittagong city unit Jamaat-e-Islami, ANM Shamsul Islam, along with 20 others, for their alleged involvement with subversive activities during January 5 poll.
Sub-Inspector Imam Hossain of Kotwali police station filed the case under section 11, 12 and 13 of the Anti-Terrorism Act on Tuesday.
Kotwali police station Officer-in-Charge AKM Mohiuddin has confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
Earlier on Monday, police arrested ANM Shamsul Islam and Party General Secretary Nazrul Islam along with 19 other leaders and activists while they were holding a secret meeting at their office.
The arrestees were accused in different cases lodged with different police stations in the city and the district in connection with the political violence during the pre and post national election period.
Protesting the incident, the Chittagong district unit Jamaat-e-Islami observing dawn-to-dusk hartal in greater Chittagong today.
