Police have arrested Chittagong city unit Ameer and 20 others Jamaat-Shibir activists from the party’s Chittagong office on Monday.
Shah Md Abdur Rauf, Assistant Commissioner of Kotwali circle, has confirmed the matter to the Dhaka Tribune.
The arrestees were Jamaat Chitagong city unit Ameer ANM Shamsul Islam also former MP, its General Secretary Nazrul Islam and 19 others leader-activists.
Rauf said: “In an hour long special drive from 4pm to 5pm, police arrested 21 Jamaat-Shibir men while they were in a meeting in its Chittagong office at Dewanganj of the port city.
They were attending a secret meeting for a fresh agitation, he added.
The arrestees have been sent to Kotwali police station, he said.
