Chhatra League activists of Dhaka University's Jahurul Haque Hall unit have beaten up two students from the Islamic Studies department suspecting them as Shibir members.
Masum Billah, and Ahmadullah Siddique have completed Masters degree and came to the department to attend a farewell programme.
The Chhatra League activists started beating the duo when they were leaving the campus after the programme around 2:20pm.
The injured students were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Dhaka University Proctor Amzad Hossain said: “Both the students do not have any political involvement. The incident might have occurred following previous enmity.”
Students of Islamic Studies department, who were present during the incident also claimed that Masum and Ahmadullah were not engaged with Shibir.
When contacted, Jahurul Haque Hall Chhatra League President Rifat Rahman claimed that BCL activists did not beat up the students.
