The Bangladesh Nationalist Party has began its long march toward the Teesta Barrage in Lalmonirhat to highlight the scarcity of water in the country’s northern areas.
The march began at 9am from Azampur, Uttara led by BNP acting secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir.
BNP standing committee member Nazrul Islam Khan and party vice chairman Abdullah Al Noman are also accompanying the long march.
Some hundred leaders and activists joined the march toward Teesta.
The marchers will stay overnight in Rangpur city and head to the Dalia point in Nilphamari on Wednesday.
