BNP joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said the verdict in the money laundering case proved that all other cases against Tarique Rahman are also false.
“The cases against Tarique are politically motivated,” claimed Rizvi.
He added: “The verdict also proved that the BNP Senior Vice-Chairman is not involved with any kind of corruption.”
Earlier on Sunday, BNP Senior Vice-Chairman Tarique Rahman was acquitted in a money laundering case.
The court however sentenced Tarique’s friend and business partner Giasuddin Al Mamun to seven years’ imprisonment and fined him Tk400m in the same case.
Judge Md Motahar Hossain of Dhaka Special Judge’s Court-3 pronounced the verdict.
