Sharif Osman Bin Hadi, spokesperson for Inquilab Mancha, has called on the interim government to form a national government within the next few months based on three demands: justice for the July massacre, fundamental reforms, and elections.
He made this statement at an emergency press conference held at 11:30am on Saturday, at the Madhur Canteen of the University of Dhaka, aimed at addressing the ongoing national crisis, reports Bangla Tribune.
Hadi urged all anti-fascist political parties to join this proposed national government.
“If the BNP refuses to cooperate, they will be held accountable before the nation. If Jamaat refuses to cooperate, they too will be answerable,” he said.
He said that the proposed government would have a tenure of at least 10 months to a year. “If a national government cannot be formed, then establish a national unity council,” Hadi suggested.
He added that Dr Muhammad Yunus would head this council, with representatives from all political parties acting as members. They would hold a constitutional status equivalent to a cabinet of ministers—not as ministers or advisers, but as watchdogs. They would have the authority to speak on all matters.
Regarding the July Declaration, Hadi said: “Until the provisions of the July Declaration are implemented, there is no point in banning Awami activities. If the July Declaration is not issued, those aligned with July will be crushed by the Awami League in collaboration with Delhi. Only when the July Declaration gains constitutional recognition will Awami activities be banned.”
Addressing the resignation of the chief adviser, Hadi added: “You have no authority to resign. We placed you in power. If you resign and leave the country, what will become of the July fighters? If you truly wish to resign, it must be done only after ensuring the safety of the July fighters.”
